Habit & Streak Tracker
Build lasting routines by tracking your daily consistency. Visualize your streaks and master your time.
How to Build Better Habits
Building a habit is less about willpower and more about the Habit Loop: a cue, a routine, and a reward. By using a visual habit tracker, you are creating a digital "reward" every time you check off a task. This physical action releases a small amount of dopamine, reinforcing the behavior and making you more likely to repeat it tomorrow.
You might have heard the myth that it takes 21 days to form a habit. In reality, modern research suggests it can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days, depending on the complexity of the behavior. This is why visual streaks are so important. Seeing a chain of 10 or 20 green circles creates a psychological desire to "don't break the chain," which helps you push through the days when your motivation is low.
The TimeKal Habit Tracker is built on the principle of incremental progress. Don't try to change your entire life at once. Start with 2 or 3 core habits—like drinking more water or doing a 10-minute stretch—and once those are colored green consistently, add more. Consistency over time always beats intensity in short bursts.
Stack Your Habits
Attach a new habit to an existing one. "After I finish my morning coffee (existing), I will check my TimeKal Dashboard (new)."
Set Micro-Goals
Instead of "Work out for 1 hour," try "Put on gym shoes." The hardest part is starting; making the goal tiny reduces resistance.
Forgive the Slips
Never miss twice. If you miss a day, your goal isn't to be perfect—it's to start a new streak immediately the next morning.
Q: How many habits should I track at once?
For best results, we recommend starting with 3 to 5 habits. Tracking too many at once can lead to "habit fatigue" and overwhelm your executive function.
Q: Is my habit data shared with anyone?
No. At TimeKal, your privacy is paramount. All habit data is stored locally in your browser's memory. We do not track or store your personal routines on our servers.
Q: What happens if I switch devices?
Since data is saved in your local browser storage, it will not automatically sync to other devices. If you want to keep your streaks across multiple computers, we recommend manually copying your data or using the same browser profile.
